Why the world would hate Jewish believers.
04/03/2011
As a leader of a Messianic congregation, for some nine years now, I am at a cross road in our ministry. As we have grown and come closer to the original congregation of Yeshua the more resistance I have had to the order of our service. My hopes and dream have always been to have a congregation that read the liturgy in Hebrew and a congregation that prayed the ancient prayers that Yeshua prayed.
As I look at the world of Judaism and Christianity today, I see something else forming out of this movement. I see the same thing I read about in the Apostolic Scriptures, a time when it dangerous to be a Jewish believer. A believer who holds fast to the traditions of the Nazarenes of Yeshua’s day. In the church, the danger is being to Jewish in what you do. The quote is always, “you do not have to be Jewish to follow G-D, or “that what the Jews do”. Both are good observations and true to a point, but I only want to follow the ways of the Master and from what I read in the Apostolic Scriptures, He was following the traditions of the Jewish people. He meet at the temple, and prayed and taught. He meet at the synagogues, as was the customs, to read, and pray the prayers of the ancients. Well, on the other hand, we have Judaism, that just hates Jews who believe in a Jewish Messiah, and keep the customs of the Nazarene . They claim that they are not even Jews any more. So if you are hated or disliked because of the practices and beliefs you have today, by two different opposing groups, both claiming to be following the spirit of G-D, it sounds much like the first century to me. A repeat of what once was, a people trying to find and identity, in a world that stands against the way that the master Yeshua had laid down before them to follow. Acts 24:10 Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak , answered , Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself: 11 Because that thou mayest understand , that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship . 12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people , neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: 13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. 14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: 15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow , that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. 16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. 17 Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings. 18 Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult. 19 Who ought to have been here before thee, and object , if they had ought against me. 20 Or else let these same here say , if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council, 21 Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day. 22 And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said , When Lysias the chief captain shall come down , I will know the uttermost of your matter.
I know, I can hear it already, “you do not have to be Jewish or follow those traditions to follow be a follower of Yeshua”, and I would agree. Yeshua did come for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. I am only stating a fact, that if you do want to follow the things that the Bible has recorded for us as history, and laid out for us as a way of life. You are either hated or disliked because, one, your not Jewish anymore, two, your to Jewish in what you do. I was under the impression that Yeshua came to restore all things, and did not come to make some new way. Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall first come, and restore all things. Today, you have to have, a Jewish Church, to be acceptable in Christianity’s eyes, and in Judaism, you have to have a Jewish Church, to be acceptable, meaning, you can not do what the Jew’s do in their service, because your not Jewish any more. All I can say is, that I will continue in what ever the Father has me to do. I will not compromise what I know to be true about the sect called “The Way”. Acts 28:17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men [and] brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. 2 Th 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Peace and a blessing, and I will surely have more to say about this persecution that is go on In Israel and the American Church. Elder Archie Hunnicutt.
