ADDENDUM TO FAITH OF ABRAHAM: by Fran Regan

ADDENDUM TO FAITH OF ABRAHAM:

Yah’s command to Lot was:
“Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed.”

And Lot said to Yah “Oh no, Yah! …..I am unable to escape to the mountains, lest calamity overtake me and I die.”
Even though Lot said he recognized Yah’s care and provision, [“…your servant has found favor in Your eyes, and you have increased your kindness which you have shown me by saving my life….but…”]
--  he did not actually believe in it.
And then he gives Yah what he thinks best – what he’d like to do.
“Look, please, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please let me escape there – is it not a small matter – and let my life be saved?” (Genesis 19:20)

Do not many do the same thing today?  We do things our own way and tell Yah it’s okay because He knows what’s in our hearts.

Yah’s command to us today is:

“Flee from the midst of Babel, and let each one save his life! Do not be cut off in her crookedness, for this is the time of the vengeance of Yah, the recompense He is repaying her.”
“Come out of her midst, My people! And let everyone deliver his being from the burning displeasure of Yah.”  (Isaiah 51:6,45)
“….Babel the great is fallen, is fallen…Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Because her sins have piled up to reach the heaven, and Elohim has remembered her unrighteousnesses.”  (Revelation 18:2,4,5)
Evidently, not even ten righteous are found in her.

Are we saying to Yah, “I’m not able to flee Babylon. I’ll lose my job. I’ll lose my family. I’ll lose my standing in the community. Calamity will overtake me. Why don’t you just let me stay a little more comfortable, a little closer to what is familiar? I’ll still serve you – howbeit, my way and not Yours. I’ll leave Babylon (partially) but I can’t go all the way to the mountain.

It is what was received on the ‘mountain’ that keeps us from being consumed. “For it is not a worthless Word for you, because it is your life.”  (Deuteronomy 32:47)

Yah never changes. “For I am Yah, I shall not change.” (Malachi 3:6) “….with Whom there is no change or shadow of turning.”  (James 1:17)
“What has been is what shall be, what has been done is what shall be done, and there is no new matter under the sun.”  (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

Our beliefs and resulting actions will determine our future.  Lot’s or Abraham’s?  It’s your choice.
